Democratic State Senate candidate Andrew Gounardes joined a chorus of political figures suggesting that Assemblyman Vito Lopez, the embattled former Kings County Democratic party boss, should step down as an elected representative.

Vito Lopez will no longer be the chairman of the Democratic Party in Brooklyn after Sept. 20th, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports. His successor will be chosen after two meetings on the night of 19th.

A medical group is looking to open a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Bensonhurst, according to Community Board 11 officials quoted in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. But chairman Guarinello also said he didn’t think local residents would be willing to accept a drug rehab facility in their community.
