Vito Lopez will no longer be the chairman of the Democratic Party in Brooklyn after Sept. 20th, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports. His successor will be chosen after two meetings on the night of 19th.

A medical group is looking to open a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Bensonhurst, according to Community Board 11 officials quoted in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. But chairman Guarinello also said he didn’t think local residents would be willing to accept a drug rehab facility in their community.

Thirty elderly performers audition for the sixth annual Brooklyn Senior Idol, this year sponsored by State Senator Marty Golden

Thirty seniors auditioned at Xaverian High School for Senior Idol, performing songs hearkening back to an earlier era, from singers including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Patsy Cline. Only ten will be selected to compete on stage at the show on Oct. 3. The winner will receive $500.
